“Through the Looking Glass” Wins 2023 Housing Narrative Award for Best Podcast Episode

The debut episode of REPUTATION, titled “Through the Looking Glass,” was awarded the 2023 Housing Narrative Award for Best Podcast Episode by the Housing Narrative Lab.

The Housing Narrative Lab supports storytellers and journalists working to shift public understanding of housing and homelessness through responsible, research-informed narrative frameworks.

In the award-winning episode, journalist Ethan Ward invites listeners into his personal experience of homelessness — from sleeping in his car to navigating the stigma and structural barriers that shape housing insecurity. The episode also features Saba Mwine-Chang of the Homelessness Policy Research Institute at the University of Southern California, examining the systemic and racial drivers of the crisis.

The episode was executive produced, edited, and fact-checked by Ethan Ward, with sound design and engineering by Jaeha Joshua Chang. Original theme music by James Ingram (Mega Dream Plus). Creative direction and podcast art by Kelly Bernard.

The recognition highlights HEATDRAWN’s commitment to narrative work that examines housing systems with nuance and accountability.
